Free up RAM (memory) in your Samsung Galaxy Ace / Android devices

We tend to install a lot of apps & games when we have just got our hands dirty on Android device. Android means loads of free apps (& games)! But one major constraint is the device memory or RAM that limits the number of apps & games that can be installed.

Device becomes slow & laggy when a lot of RAM has been consumed. Even if you don't install many apps, you will find free space being consumed. It happens because many apps cache data that they use frequently. Ofcourse it improves performance but at the same time reduces it as well. So its a good idea to clear this cached data to reclaim free space. One free app does it for you. Its name is "App Cache Cleaner". Its very much like CCleaner for PC.
App Cache Cleaner scans all the apps & shows how much cached data is there. From that list you can choose to individually clear the cache or you can clear all the data together in one go.

Remove Animation Effect to speed up Windows.

The Menu Animation feature shows an Animation effect when we open a Menu. This effect causes menus to open with some delay. This also gives an impression that the system is slow. You might have seen that when you right click an empty area in the Desktop, Context Menu opens with a very annoying delay. Anytime you right click, delay occurs in opening of menus. This looks very irritating & boring. So a good option is to disable the Menu Animation. This will cause Menus to open really fast. Here's how to do it:

There are utilities like "Powertoys for Windows XP" & TuneUp Utilities. Powertoys can be found in your Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD. Insert your CD, Browse for the folder "XP_XTRAS"->open it. There will be a folder "XP powertoys". Open it & double click the file "POWERTOYSETUP.exe ".
Follow the instructions. When installation is completed, click Start->Powertoys for Windows XP->TweakUI for Windows XP. A window will appear. On left side there is a list of various categories. Click the category "General". Deselct the option "Enable menu animation" on right side of the screen. Press OK. That's it! Manu Animation has been disabled. Now experience much faster & cleaner Menus opening. You will feel that your system has become lightening fast. Now your menus (Both on Menu Toolbar & Context menu) will open immediately without a delay. You can disable other animation effects as well. Just start TweakUI for Windows XP & under General category check other available animation effecs. Just click an option & you'll see it's description below. Deselect the effects which you don't want to occur. Simple. Isn't it!

PC starting up too slowly and overall performance poor?

Hi All, finally i am back with one of the remedies for your systems that are slow to boot. Mostly it happens because of a large number of programs running in background without even your knowledge!! They take up your RAM and CPU cycles. So better get rid of the applications that you dont want to start automatically with Windows. Follow these steps to get this done.
  • Press Windows + R or click Start->Run.
  • Type in the textbox, msconfig. (without a fullstop)
  • Something like this will open up.

.
  • Click the last tab "Startup".
  • Deselect the applications that you dont want to automatically start.
  • After doing this, press OK button. A dialog box will pop up asking you to either reboot now or later. Choose accordingly.
  • You are done! :)
Caution:- Never disable the application(s) that you are not aware of.

Best Free Android Apps for Samsung Galaxy Ace!

There are tons of apps available on market.android.com, some are free where as some are paid. I only use free (barring PowerAmp) software and believe me the apps given below can pretty easily rival their default / paid counterparts. All of these are free and above par.
1. Music Player :-

Nothing beats PowerAmp!!! Its just the best audio player for Galaxy Ace & others too (haven't tried on any other except my Galaxy!). Plays everything but videos. For Audio, its unbeatable. Though it's paid, but if you love your music, this is excellent investment. Another option for free Audio Player is Cloudskipper that also includes 5 band equalizer, lock-screen widget, hands-free controls but lacks a few features. Give it a try as well.

Cons : - COSTS 260 INR (around 5 US$). Only plays AUDIO, even if the file is video. But i always prefer standalone apps. Read on for Video Player.

Pros :-
  • Super Fluid-Liquid kind of interface. It just enthralls the soul.
  • Excellent Equalizer customizability! Even default / Winamp & Real Player fail to provide such thing. Its damn great feature.
  • Very responsive & fast. No sluggishness whatsoever!
  • You can tweak almost everything. Be it its interface or Audio settings. Just everything! Great control over the customizability.
  • BEST feature - You can control the actions of headset button :) Press once to pause (great when your screen times out, no need to unlock. Just press once to pause. Press again to play), press twice to skip to next song in playlist. Press thrice to jump to previous song in the list. it just saves you a lot of inconvenience. Lock-screen widget also allows to operate player without unlocking phone & seeking can be done easily.
Note:- Winamp is another great & free Music Player for Android. Click here for its features & how to get the best sound quality from Android device.

Just found one more great & probably the best Music Player app for Android. ItsJetAudio. Click the link below for full review.
http://softybits.blogspot.com/2012/06/jetaudio-for-android-free-dandy-music.html
2. Video Player :-

I use a beauty called MX Video Player. Its pretty much like GOM player or VLC player for PCs. Fast, smooth and powerful.

Cons: -
Erratic playback in case of a few .flv flash videos :( Though handles many others quite well!

Pros :-
  • Supports almost any possible media format. Played a few .flv files on mine when default player & Real player refused to do so :D
  • Super fast performance! Lightweight app. Plays videos smoothly.
  • Powerful features like video controls, de-interlacing, codec selection, color depth option, automatic codec download in case it fails to play a file. Just like any desktop app :)
  • Pinch to zoom or gestures to up / down volume & seeking! Just super smooth and easy.
Another great Video player is MoboPlayer. Infact is even better than MX player in many terms. Handles .flv files well & also the quality is great. Do give it a try & choose what you feel is best of these 2.

3. Photo Editor :-

I used and straightaway liked PicSay!! Fast and feature loaded. Must have for Android devices especially Ace!

Pros : -
In one line, allows you to enhance photos and add funny titles & other stuff etc. Does what it promises. Very easily adjusts the brightness / contrast / temperature. Address white-balance issue quite well.

4. Anti-Virus :-

Both Avast & AVG promise to be the best free AV solution for Android. I use AVG. Its fast, efficient, easy on memory and easy to use. Also includes a lot of features like App killer, task manager, backup etc. Great AV. Must have app for your Galaxy.

5. Comic Viewer / Reader :-

If you are a comix reader like me and have got tons of .CBR & .CBZ comix, use this free app Perfect Viewer to read them. Super smooth navigation and viewing. Absolutely fast and promising. 100% satisfied. You can also customize the interface for navigation.

6. File Manager :-

Well, the name itself is File Manager. It allows searching for any file by typing a few letters of name. Something that default file manager fails to do :( Nothing much to say, you will like this a lot as its free, fast and easy on device :)
One more similar free app is ES File Explorer. Its also one of the best in-class apps. Click here for its review.

7. Browser :-

Nothing beats Opera Mini & Dolphin browserDolphin lets you play YouTube videos directly. Other browsers open up the YouTube app for the same. Opera is lightening fast as usual. Needless to say, Opera helps download music & other media as well, say, a photo or a zip file from FB inbox. They both are very good alternatives for default browser.

8. Free SMS (for India only):-

I use an app called Free SMS India. It does exactly what its been developed for. Very simple UI & super delivery-speed. No need to pay for SMS. Only pay for the data plan that you have chosen. A must have app if you send a lot of msgs.

9. Dictionary :-

There are 2 options. One for offline & one for online. If you can't access internet every now & then but need to find meanings of words, choose WordWeb Dictionary. You'll need to download a 26 MB database file once (it sits on SD card) & thats it :) Been using its PC version for 2 years & its BEST offline dictionary!! Future updates might include Pronounce feature. If you are comfortable connecting to net 24/7, useDictionary.comIt includes 'pronounce words' feature :)

10. Photo Viewer :-

Again I use 2 viewers. QuickPic & Photo Gallery (FishBowl)QuickPic, as the name suggests, is fast & powerful viewer. Very neat UI & browsing is really fast. FishBowl is meant for fun browsing as it has a few special effects in its UI. Both are good. Latter is more fun :) QuickPic is basic but fast. Try both of these & you won't be disappointed.

11. Memory Game :-
I
play a puzzle based game called Memory Trainer. Its 100% free app to sharpen your mind. Has got many levels & many memory drills to perform. It focuses on concentrating more & more. Also makes you put pressure on your brain harder which is the best way to enhance memory. Play it regularly & you'll notice the change.

12. Notepad :-

If you frequently need to take down notes, then this app is a must have, FreeNote+. It is a complete note-taking tool that allows you to type, draw & record. So you can draw diagrams, type words & record voice. A perfect companion when you have no pen-paper around but need to note down something.

Online Gaming Tips for Newbies

If you think you might enjoy online gaming (or you’re trying to choose a game for someone else), there are a number of choices available, including first-person shooters, real time strategy games, and auto racing, plus many more.
First-person shooters (FPS) are a type of three dimensional shooter game featuring a first person point of view with which the player sees the action through the eyes of the player character. Games like Call of Duty and the ever popular Counterstrike fall into the first person shooter category.
Screen image from Call of Duty
In a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game the participants position and maneuver units and structures under their control to secure or conquer areas of the map and/or destroy their opponents’ assets. In a typical RTS, it is possible to create additional units and structures during the course of a game. If these types of games sound interesting to you check out World of Warcraft and Starcraft II.
Screen image from StarCraft II
Although I’ve played my share of FPS and RTS games, my online gaming passion is auto racing. There have been online racing games that I have enjoyed around for years, titles like Grand Prix Legends, the Need for Speed series and various NASCAR titles, but in my opinion today’s best online racing simulation comes from iRacing.com.
The developers at iRacing.com have truly captured the essence of auto racing in their simulation; competition is intense and not for the faint of heart. Newcomers to the simulation start off as rookies and earn their way up the racing ladder by demonstrating proper technique and car control, and then as a racer improves they move up to the next license level, which allows them to drive even faster cars.
Racing online literally puts you in the driver’s seat; the only things missing are the g-forces, heat and smells! Online racing is very challenging, as it takes practice and concentration to go fast, just like in the real world of auto racing.
My Daytona Prototype racecar
Because you are in a virtual car you don’t have the same visibility that you have in a real car. There are rearview mirrors but you can’t turn your head to look to the side or behind you. Because of this lack of visibility you learn to be much more aware who is around you to avoid collisions. This heightened awareness translates into the real world of driving. When I’m on the road I’m much more aware of what’s around me, and I find things that used to startle me just don’t anymore. I have more confidence in my ability to avoid trouble, and I credit online racing for giving me that confidence.
So you ask: what do I need to get started? You can race using a game controller, but experience says a modest investment in a steering wheel/pedal setup is the best way to go. Logitech and Thrustmaster both make solid, inexpensive setups, I highly recommend that if you want to race online you start with one of these. As for a computer… iRacing.com takes a fair amount of processing and graphics power to run smoothly so I would recommend something comparable to an Intel Core i5 or Core i7processor.
If you are looking for a new gaming challenge or if you have always wanted to race a car, come join me on the track and experience it first-hand.

How to Gamble Online , Comprehensive Gambling Guides, Tutorials, & Reviews

How to Gamble Real Money Online

There are many safe and legitimate ways to gamble online and win real money. You can play casino games, bet on sports, play poker against other real players, and even enjoy a game of bingo from the comfort of your home.
And while gambling online for real money is a lot of fun, it can also be frustrating and risky if you’re not careful. This guide to gambling money online will provide you with tips for safe online gambling, details on various deposit methods, and reviews of the best gambling sites.

1. Choose a Gambling Site

There are a lot of reputable and safe gambling sites, but there are just as many bad ones that you should avoid at all costs. With all the various gambling laws and regulations, you need to select an online gambling site that accepts players from your country.
Below you’ll find guides to the best gambling sites broken down by country and type.

Tips for choosing where to gamble:

  • Make sure the site accepts players from your country and players your age.
  • Before you sign up, deposit, or accept free bonus money, read the gambling site’s terms and conditions.

2. Signup for a Free Account

All legitimate gambling sites allow you to register for a free account before you deposit any money. This allows you to try different gambling sites before you make a deposit. Make sure you feel confident using the site’s software and features.

What can you do for free?

  • Online Casinos – You can play most, if not all, of the casino’s games using play money – either in a downloadable client, or instantly in your browser. This is not only a great way to get a feel for the casino’s software and game selection, it’s also a good way to practice various casino games for free.
  • Online Betting Sites – Since most sports bettors aren’t interested in betting with play money, the majority of online betting sites don’t offer that option. The main purpose of setting up a free account is learn how to place bets, review the odds, and see what tools are available.
  • Online Poker Rooms – On the the best parts about online poker sites is the ability to play against other players for free. Poker sites give you a certain amount of play money that you can use to play fake cash games or poker tournaments. This can be a great way to learn to play poker, plus it gives you a chance to become acquainted with the poker room’s software.

Tips for signing up:

  • Use a new (free) email address to sign up at gambling sites. Online gambling operators love to send promotional emails. If you decide to try a few different sites, you won’t have to worry about your primary email address getting clogged with online gambling offers. We recommend a free account at Google Mail or Yahoo Mail.
  • If you’re even considering gambling real money, make sure to use your actual information when you sign up. When you go to deposit money the personal information you provided needs to match your credit card, or other payment method.

3. Deposit and Gamble for Real Money

Once you’ve found a gambling site you like and tested it out by signing up for a free account, you’re probably ready to gamble online for real money.

Recommended deposit methods:

  • Debit/Credit Cards – Easiest way to deposit at an online gambling site (even in U.S.)
  • E-wallets – Secure e-wallets (like Paypal) act as an intermidiary between your bank and online gambling transactions. Unfortunately for US gamblers, there are no recommended e-wallets at this time. For non-US residents, the most popular gambling e-wallets are Neteller and Skrill.
  • Prepaid Cards – As an alternative to using your personal credit or debit card, prepaid debit cards are a solid option. The downside is the transaction fee for loading funds onto the card.

Tips for gambling online safely:

  • Some gambling sites, especially online casinos, require verification forms like scans of a driver’s license, credit card, and/or a utility bill. These are for your safety, so it’s a good idea to have them on file before you make a deposit.

Real Money Blackjack Tournaments

Blackjack is typically a card game that’s played against the house, but in blackjack tournaments the rules change a bit. When you play in blackjack tournaments you’ll still play your hand against the dealer, but the goal is to beat the other players. There are a couple types of blackjack tournament available online depending on where you play. The two types of blackjack tournaments include single table and multi-table tournaments.

Single Table Blackjack Tournaments

Single table blackjack tournaments are without question the most popular format, as they’re quick. In this format the players on the table play a set amount of hands before the last place person is eliminated. This continues until there is only one player left in the event, at which point the winner receives the prize pool. Make sure you know how many hands are in each round before you start playing, so that you can figure out your game plan.

Multi-Table Blackjack Tournaments

Multi-table blackjack tournaments are a bit different then single table online blackjack tournaments. In this format players are each seated on a single table and it’s your goal to win your table. Typically the first or first two players on each table move onto the next round after the predetermined amount of hands is played. For instance, the first round might be 10 hands long, which means you have ten hands to win more chips then the rest of the players on your table.

Best Blackjack Tournament Sites

Absolute Poker surprisingly have the best real money blackjack tournaments you’re going to find online. They have some great features including a secret bet feature. With the secret bet feature players are allowed to make one bet each round where the amount isn’t displayed to other players. Even though AP is known for their poker room they actually have a lot of blackjack players as well.
Bodog Casino also offers real money online blackjack tournaments, but they aren’t as popular as they are at Absolute Poker. They do have promotions from time to time for blackjack tournament players, which make them a good option once in awhile.

Blackjack Tournament Tips

In blackjack tournaments the dealer button is passed around the table after each hand. The player that gets to bet last has the obvious advantage because they get to see how much the other players bet. Make sure you take advantage of your position in blackjack tournaments.
You should always protect your lead when you’re leading a blackjack tournament if possible. If you can make a small bet and guarantee more chips than your opponent you should always do so.
If you’re playing in a live blackjack tournament online that allows you to make a secret bet each round you need to make sure you always use the secret bet. Using the secret bet can help you try and take a lead or it can help you bluff your opponents. If you take the secret bet in an early position everyone that acts after you is going to assume you went big when you could go small and hope that the dealer wins the hand against everyone.

  • Online Casinos

One of the oldest and most entertaining online gambling markets is by far the online casino market which has progressed significantly over the last 10 years and we're seeing great new online casino sites. What was once a seedy and unreliable industry for the player has changed into a secure and stable environment with a ton of excellent operators working in the market. Online casinos allow you to place bets on a number of different casino games just like you would in a regular land based casino, however as the name suggest all of the wagering is done entirely online. This is great for a player who can log on and play right away from the comfort of their own home without having to make the journey to a local casino.
Mobile Gaming - Betting On Your Phone!
By far the most convenient way to play casino games, bet or play poker online is by using your mobile. GamblingNerd.com provides a complete list of the top gambling sites for mobile users with pages specific for blackjack, poker, betting, slots, roulette and more. You can use any of the links below to find the page that best suits your needs and mobile device.

Perhaps one of the biggest incentives to playing online versus live is the fact that you will get to take advantage of casino bonuses which are cash incentives offered to a player to sign up with one brand over another. Because the online market is so competitive all online casinos started offering bonuses to their players so these days you will always be given some extra reward when you sign up to play for real money. This is a nice incentive for players and this along with all the other benefits of online casinos is covered in our casino section as well as casino deposit methods and more information on playing a wide variety of casino games.
  • Online Poker

In terms of online gambling, playing poker is by far the largest gambling market comprised of the most players and biggest operators. Ever since the poker boom largely attributed to Chris Moneymaker, the world of online poker has grown at an exponential rate and nowadays hundreds of thousands of players play the game on a daily basis. Online poker works exactly the same as the live game however the online version tends to be much faster paced with a ton more players. As with online casinos, players will also usually be offered an incentive when they sign up which is something you wouldn’t expect to find in your local poker room. This combined with excellent software and promotions at the best poker sites makes the online poker market an excellent place for players who can take advantage of more games and incentives when they play poker.
In addition to the bonuses and software, the sheer volume of online poker players creates some seriously awesome promotions. For example, most of the major poker sites in the market offer huge guaranteed tournaments every week with prize pools reaching upwards of $2,000,000. Compare this with the old days where land based tournaments barely broke $1,000,000 prize pools and it’s easy to see why online poker has become so popular. We can also see more and more players looking for poker sites with a lot of fish. In our poker section you will find a number of articles dealing with playing poker games as well as profiles of players and reviews of some of the best poker sites in the industry. We’ve also provided you with access to some of the best sign up bonuses and bonus codes which you can use during sign-up to ensure you receive the best offers as a player.
  • Online Sports Betting

Sports betting is one of the favourite past times of gamblers who often wish to add additional excitement to sporting events by placing a wager on the outcome of the game. Wagering on sports online is relatively easy and is done through what is known as an online sportsbook who essentially offer the odds and take wagers on the game. One of the great things about online sports betting is the fact that in comparison to Government run operations, online sportsbooks tend to offer infinitely better lines and odds to players. This means that skilled bettors have a much better chance of making a significantly higher profit online in comparison to betting in live casinos or through bookies.
As a player, it’s possible to bet on almost anything online from Soccer to Hockey, Boxing, Horse Racing and many other events such as the Superbowl and Olympics. Most sportsbooks also offer future bets on a ton of topics outside the traditional realm of betting ranging from celebrity break ups to Presidetial elections and much more. In our sports betting section we cover all of the different sports that you can bet on online including detailed sportsbook reviews to assist you in finding a safe and reputable site to place your wagers. As with all gambling sites, you will also be offered a bonus incentive when creating a new sportsbook account so we’ve provided a full overview of the best bonuses available to new bettors.
  • Online Bingo

The last major area of online gambling that is done by players is in the online bingo market which is particularly popular in the UK and Spain but has begun substantial growth across the globe. One of the main reasons that bingo has become so popular online is due to a number of traditional betting operators who have developed bingo software full of excellent features such as live player chat and a number of excellent real money bingo games. Most bingo sites offer all the traditional games you’d expect to find in a bingo hall including 75 ball, 80 ball and 90 ball games for players. In addition to the actual bingo games, almost all bingo websites also have a number of excellent slot games that offer a good break for players waiting in between games to try and build up their bankroll and pass the time before the next game.
Some of the most popular bingo websites in the market include Foxy Bingo, 888 Ladies, Gala Bingo and William Hill Bingo which all offer great games and bonuses for players. In terms of incentives, bingo players probably have it the best out of all the markets since almost all bingo sites will give you free money to test out there games with no obligation to make a deposit. This is a great way to get a feel for the games at the site and decide whether or not you think you might enjoy playing there for real money. In our online bingo section, you’ll find reviews of all these sites plus articles on bingo games, strategy and the best bingo sites for country specific players. Not at least we cover the US situation and the best bingo sites with USA deposits.
